June is Busting Out…
Categories: UncategorizedOkay, this photo was actually taken in the middle of May, which is odd in itself. “Spring” came very early for us this year, after a very mild winter. Usually we can’t plant anything until after the first full moon of June, because there’s still a danger of frost killing things, and the perennials and trees don’t normally start to flower until June, either.
It wasn’t quite in full bloom yet, and it’s not a great photo, but this is the “non-fruit-bearing” cherry tree off our back deck. The first few years we moved in, due to being surrounded by weeds and shrubs, and as a favourite treat of the porcupines, it was so sickly that we didn’t even know the thing flowered. It’s much happier and healthier than it used to be, though, and a couple years ago even produced about half a dozen inedible cherries.
